Began in the music world at age 17 in 2002 with his first successful album Let Go. "Complicated" and "Girlfriend" were among the 100 biggest songs of the decade according to Billboard.

His second album, Under My Skin, was first reached number one on the Billboard 200.

With The Best DamnThing, her third album, reached the top positions around the globe, giving Lavigne recognition of the best-selling female artist in that year. Avril has had five number one worldwide, including "Complicated", "Sk8er Boi", "I'm WithYou", "My Happy Ending" and "Girlfriend". The latter was the first single peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 of United Estates.
